Three years ago, Ubiquity Records unleashed International Love Affair, the debut album from Tigerbalm, a gorgeously confident and colourful affair that deftly showcased her now celebrated brand of disco-flecked global musical fusion.
The London-based DJ/producer’s reputation has rightly risen since the release of that startling debut full-length, with a pair of admired EPs on Brooklyn’s Razor N Tape Records and a string of other productions and remixes (including an exclusive contribution to 20:20Vision’s Crazy P Curates series) further quickening her ascent. Now she’s back on Ubiquity with the first single from her hotly anticipated sophomore set, Bubblegum Discos.
If International Love Affair was the sound of Tigerbalm introducing her talent and now trademarksound to the world, Bubblegum Discos is her delivering on that promise – and then some.Recorded and produced with contributions from a wide range of collaborators and guestperformers, the kaleidoscopic and infectious collection of cuts is set for release in the Spring of2026.
To whet our appetites, Tigerbalm has joined forces with rising star of Italian electronic music,Giorgio Lopez, to deliver a first single ‘Nayar’ from her upcoming album. A superb slab ofsynthesiser and drum machine-powered joy, it sees Tigerbalm takes to the mic for the first timealongside her Naples-based collaborator. With Lopez handling the choruses, Tigerbalm delivers rhyming rap verses in the style of sassy1980s boogie and freestyle stars such as Teena Marie, effortlessly whipping up a dancefloorfrenzy atop squelchy bass, hot-stepping beats, soaring synth lines, bleeping melodic motifs andmood-enhancing vocalisations. It’s a little slice of sun-soaked summer joy shot through withreferences to reggaeton and Latin musical culture.Tigerbalm was responsible for assembling the roster of remixers commissioned to rework thetrack, all of whom deliver memorable and floor-friendly revisions in their own distinctive styles.
Sometime Big Baba Records, Razor N Tape and Barefoot Beats contributor Elado steps up first, re-imaging ‘Nayar’ as a throbbing, synth-propelled slab of bouncy electronic disco set to inspiremany a hands-aloft moment on dancefloors the world over.Fellow Barefoot Beats regular Bernado Pinheiro takes a slightly different tack on his similarlyimpressive rework, effortlessly joining the dots between Brazilian nu-disco and percussion-richLatin house on a version that rightly makes the most of Lopez’s harmonic, life-affirmingvocalisations and a funky, thickset TB-303 style acid bassline. To round off a sizzling-hot EP, Spanish house maestro Piek takes ‘Nayar’ to peak-time housedancefloors. Employing periodic breakbeat blasts amongst his chunky house beats and rubberyelectronic bass, the Beunobueno Discos co-founder reaches for headline-grabbing bleepmelodies, warehouse-ready stabs and Tigerbalm and Lopez’s ear-catching vocals. The result is anenergy-packed treat tailor-made for festival dancefloors and sweat-soaked late-night shindigs.‘Nayar’ released digitally on July 2025, and on vinyl in September. To promote the single, Rose has unveiled a visually stunning and memorable promotional video. It was directed and produced by Sean Hagan with styling by Jenny Svantesson.
